The Lil Black Dress Project Starts again Monday November 9th Our last one wrapped up at the end of September and there were some amazing transformations! Yes the weight loss was in the the double digits for many of the girls! But the one thing I was most moved by, was how much the ladies had changed on the inside. The smiles in the after pics were brighter, the confidence that beamed from their faces was truly beautiful. The Lil[…]

Who the Hell is Coach Andrew

Andrew grew up playing competitive sports. Baseball, Rugby and Hockey. His focus was hockey and in his last 2 years of minor hockey he played at the highest level. That was followed by three years of junior hockey in Rockland in which he was an assistant captain in the 3rd year. As an athlete he missed that competitive spirit until he found Hostyle. Hostyle brought that intensity and competitive drive that he had been missing since his competitive sport days.[…]

Solutions to New Years Weight Loss Resolutions

The Solution to Your Resolution

Bill and Sly were at it again, and this time it was personal.  After bagging their buck and dragging it back to the truck, Sly reinforced his friends’ thoughts of coming to train with him.  The very next day Sly called Bill up to go into the gym and workout.  It was a wakeup call to Bill after seeing Sly drag the deer mostly by himself back to the truck, while he huffed and puffed along behind dragging only his[…]

The Problems with Being Overly Awesome and Training Too Much

Kala sat at her computer screen wondering what kind of awesome workout she would attempt today.  Let’s see she thought to herself, we did train legs yesterday, but my legs still don’t feel too bad today. I’ll just throw in this workout I found online with some series of plyometric jumps and lunges. That should be okay!  Then we’ll polish them off with some nice leg press and split squat jumps, and then… The list went on to describe several[…]

Training versus working out

Do You Even Lift: Workouts Are Not Training

Stephanie loved to workout, in fact you could say she was a bit obsessed with the gym. Every day she could be seen coming to the gym like clockwork at the wee early morning hours to hoist some weights around and then power through some cardio.  Sometimes she even came back in the evening if she didn’t feel like she worked hard enough. Although that wasn’t her real problem… Steph really wanted to do a figure show in the summer[…]

Sally’s Top Secret Fat Loss Trick

Sally Fields was working super hard on her fitness.  She had been going to the gym on a fairly regular basis for about a month now and she was well on her way to a successful bout of fat loss.  She attended at least two fitness bootcamp classes a week, lifted some descent weights on squats and deadlifts on another two days a week and took a good brisk walk on another day.  After about a month of steady work,[…]
