The Lil Black Dress Project Starts again Monday November 9th Our last one wrapped up at the end of September and there were some amazing transformations! Yes the weight loss was in the the double digits for many of the girls! But the one thing I was most moved by, was how much the ladies had changed on the inside. The smiles in the after pics were brighter, the confidence that beamed from their faces was truly beautiful. The Lil[…]

Who the Hell is Coach Andrew

Andrew grew up playing competitive sports. Baseball, Rugby and Hockey. His focus was hockey and in his last 2 years of minor hockey he played at the highest level. That was followed by three years of junior hockey in Rockland in which he was an assistant captain in the 3rd year. As an athlete he missed that competitive spirit until he found Hostyle. Hostyle brought that intensity and competitive drive that he had been missing since his competitive sport days.[…]

Hostyle Strength Challenge VII

It’s time to revive a lifting classic, the Hostyle Strength Challenge, formerly known as the “Fitness Warehouse Strength Challenge”. When we were strictly a retail outfit under Fitness Warehouse, we began running an outdoor powerlifting competition. In fact, many of today’s local active powerlifters lifted for the first time in one of our previous six Strength Challenges. We started with the bench press and added the deadlift, and in later years we added log press and farmers walk building on the[…]

Fat Loss – If Its Not Working

Susan Bewildered was having a rough week, actually more like a rough month. Her kids were constantly sick, her husband didn’t pay much attention to her needs and she had stopped losing body fat.  The latter being today’s top problem in the books. She just couldn’t figure out she was doing wrong. She had been training with Steve, her personal coach, for several months now and she had gotten a lot stronger, her work capacity was through the roof; but[…]

Eating Too Clean Stops Fat Loss

Sally walked into the gym with a sluggish gait.  She had made some great progress this year so far in her pursuit of the “perfect body”, but now she felt like she just couldn’t do it anymore.  She wasn’t quite sure why she felt this way, but it was beginning to worry her.  The last few weeks she could barely get up the energy to drag herself to the gym and slog through a rigorous workout, let alone do much[…]

Curing Your Nervous System Hangover

Carl Johnson sat down on the bench next to him with a huff of annoyance.  This was the fourth time this week that he’d been out of gas after a workout.  After not even starting a workout really.  He had managed to get through his warm-up fine, dynamic stretching went well, but the first main exercise felt like a million pounds.  Even the warm-up weights were slightly harder than they should have been but no big issue, he thought to[…]

How Much Do You Want It? Results that is.

Amy Stopelgo walked away from the spa slightly more perturbed than she had entered. It wasn’t her manicure or full body massage that was bothering her though. Something was bugging her and she just couldn’t shake that nagging feeling that she’d experienced so many times before.  She just couldn’t believe she’d been weight training for weeks now with minimal progress.  It was always so quick before.  She’d start up a new program, suffer through the weights, the dieting and get[…]
