It’s time for a change – Jamie MacDonald

It has always been there, that small voice in the back of my head telling me to get up and get going. A voice that whispers in my ear and says” Girl you deserve it, -this is what you want so go get em tiger”….. Why is it that for so long I’ve just avoided confronting that voice, and rather then getting up and taking action, that I have just let myself stumble into old bad habits over and over again.

Why do I let food dictate so many things in my life? If it’s in my mind, it’s an obsession that changes my mood, my mentality and for those few seconds that I crave it, it’s as if nothing else matters. Why? Why have I let food become the controller in my life.

Instead of being the one to take control of the situation and take it out for 5 minutes on the elliptical, I would give in time and time again – what is with that?

I don’t know who’s out there, or who will ever read this letter but if there’s any advice that I could give you, it’s that when you lose yourself to bad habits, eventually you lose out on many of life’s simple pleasures – so the first thing you have to ask yourself is… Is it really worth it?

I mean, I’m not saying everybody in this world is perfect and that there won’t be times where we do let loose and enjoy a splurge once in a while. But to say that, once in a while, it really has to mean that – once in a while.

If I had got a dollar for every time that I have said ” Oh hunny, it will only be once in a while” and broken that promise I would be millionaire! Okay, maybe I should not get too ahead of myself, but really I probably could have already had the house and dream wedding me and my fiance are currently trying to save up for.

They say that mind over matter goes a long way, and if we use it for the better part of things in our lives then we succeed – and if we let ourselves give in to all temptations, to all bad habits, then we throw ourselves down a hole that we will struggle time and time again to get out of.

I’ve come to the realization that if we want something bad enough, we have to turn it into an obsession, something that we will go after and get no matter what it takes, that no matter the pain or struggle it takes to get there, we don’t back down- and if we do fall, we get back up and fight back harder.

If we want something in our life, we can’t just sit around waiting for it to happen, we must take all the possible actions in order for us to achieve that goal we most desire. Luck, or fate is when opportunity meets preparation.Well, that’s exactly it, you prepare yourself for the life you want, you don’t expect it to be handed to you, you make it happen regardless of what it takes to get there

About Jamie

My name is Jamie McDonald and I am a mom to my beautiful daughter Chloe, a wife to my best friend, and  I am a woman who is changing her life one pound at a time.

I started just like anyone else, in a place that needed change. With that, I had a vision and chose to make a change.

I have found a passion in powerlifting and am on the road to start competing.

Watch me, listen and read about where I’ve been – to where I am and where I will be, as I redefine and rediscover who I am.

This is my journey, and through it I hope so inspire you, motivate you and prove to you that no matter where you start you can always achieve your greatest goals.
