Hostyle on dealing with a back issues

Having back issues is a real Pain!! (Sorry I just had to do that)

Back pain especially lower back and sciatica is becoming all to common a problem for many people.

Most of the time it’s due to extremely weak core area. The core is not just the abdominal section but also the lower back, obliques, hip flexor region and the glutes.

When this area is not conditioned properly as a whole, the lower spine is not readily supported and is exprosed to undo stress and agrevation.

Once the vertabrae in spine start dealing with shifting and stress beyond what it was designed for the spinal cord starts getting into trouble and the next thing you know your back goes out because you bent over to pick up that paper on the ground.

Im my opnion when your back does go “out” it was mostly a long time in coming and not the result of the the random act you just did that caused the injury.

Being over weight doesn’t help either, 20 extra pounds on the scale can put hundreds of pounds of extra pressure on your back depending the movement you are putting your back thru.

Infact my own lower back / sciatica issues are one of the prime reasons I started Hostyle Conditioning.

The four areas to work and improve on are.

  1. Mobility and core strengthening
  2. Walking
  3. Ice.Ice.Ice
  4. Chiropractic care for optimal Spinal health.

In the video below I go into more detail..

Hostyle Weekly Weigh in Week # 15

Hey everyone, it’s been a few weeks since I posted my weekely weigh in Status.

I have been super busy (still not a excuse)

I also got hit with bronchitis and fever so that took some time to get back into the training swing of things. But I have been back into training for the last week to 10 days.

Especially pleased that I am back doing my 5 k walks, although it’s been quite chilly and rainy, so i’m really looking forward to some sunshine.

Hostyle bench nite Friday April 13th

The gang all gathered at Hostyle conditioning for a nother Friday Nite bench session.

We had the boys from Montreal and Cornwall joining us as well as Shane Church, big Phil Landry and we even had Strongman/wrestler Yves Drouin stop by to check things out.

Good to see Russell Stocker droping in shortly after his Hernia operation, and Luskville’s strongest man Richard Moquin was on hand!

Here’s some video footage…

The Eric 100

Many of the traininees at Hostyle conditioning have been hearing about the Eric 100.

Eric Whissle who has lost 150 lbs with us is getting ready to go info Surgery in May to have his excess skin from the huge weightloss removed.

Before he goes in he wanted to really add a big push in his training before he is off for a few weeks after his surgery.

So he decided he was going to do 100 sit-ups after every workout until then, then it became a 100 sit-ups per day.

Now many of our clients are automatically grabbing a mat and finishing their workouts wit their 100 sit-ups.

After my Wednseday Kettlebell workout I got down and hit me own Eric 100
